If you go through life and aim at nothing, you surely will hit nothing; you will perish in life if you have no vision. Vision has to do with what you see. We know of this popular saying at the advent of the internet, “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG). Having a vision is a desire to see something unfold in the future, and what you want to see is what you are most likely to get, if you work hard towards it.

Vision is defined as: a) the faculty or state of being able to see; b) the ability to think or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. The first definition is what the physical eye is capable of doing – capture light from external sources, while the second definition is to imagine, think or plan the future, having an achievable goal or result in mind.

There are countless examples of people who pursued their visions and today have made great contributions towards helping humanity. One significant vision I would like to mention in this article is the audio Bible. In the 1950s the first audio Bible (KJV in English language) was recorded and narrated by Alexander Scourby for the American Foundation of the Blind. From there on other audio Bibles sprung up. Audio Bibles or spoken Bibles were recorded to provide the listener the ability to listen to the scriptures without being required to look directly at the written text.

This is a vision somebody had to help the blind to listen to the scriptures, and it has turned out to help not only the blind, but also many people who can see to overcome the limitations of the traditional way of reading and listening to the scriptures, which we can only do at specific times (time set aside). As we become overwhelmed by our many responsibilities – work, home, children, relationships, leisure and pleasure – we cannot find time to read the Bible regularly. Today, with the audio Bible we can listen to the scriptures anytime or anywhere.

Just like the audio Bible, Gospel Multiplier has a vision to make the entire Bible a song book so that people can listen to the scriptures as songs wherever they are and whenever they want. The psalmist says: the Lord is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation. Listening to songs about the Lord gives you strength.

No matter how big or small a vision may be; it’s worth pursuing. God is looking at your faithfulness in carrying out what He has entrusted into your care, and not the accomplishment of something big. Pursuing a vision enables individuals to step out of their comfort zone to enter new territories of their capabilities to maximise their potential. It has the benefit of discovering new things, and most of the time; this makes life easier and better for all mankind.
